Elijah Clark State Park

This park is located on the western shore of 71,100 acre Clarks Hill Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Southeast. With its boat ramps and accessible fishing pier, it is especially popular with anglers and boaters. A sandy swimming beach welcomes visitors to cool off during Georgia summers. Rental cottages are located on the lake’s edge, and the spacious campground is nestled into the forest. Tent campers will enjoy extra privacy in the walk-in section.

Hickory Knob

Along the rolling, wooded shoreline of the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Reservoir, sits Hickory Knob, a full-service, lakeside South Carolina golf resort and remote state park all rolled into one. Hickory Knob operates an 18-hole championship golf course, buffet restaurant, skeet shooting, boat ramp, archery range, meeting facilities, and more than 70 lodge-style rooms. This South Carolina golf resort is an ideal location for a family getaway, reunion or a business meeting or retreat.

Hamilton Branch State Park

Located in Plum Branch, South Carolina, Hamilton Branch State Park occupies a peninsula on the 70,000-acre Lake Thurmond. Thanks to activities such as fishing, boating and lakefront camping, the park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts looking to spend time on the water.

Campers can reserve one of more than 150 spacious, lakefront camping sites, an ideal spot for shoreline fishing. Anglers looking for deeper waters can access the lake via two private boat ramps and fish for bass, bream, striper, catfish or crappie.

Off the water, Hamilton Branch provides group picnic shelters and a short bike trail that serves as a connector to the 12-mile Stevens Creek Bike Trail.

Baker Creek

Baker Creek caters to those looking for fun on Lake Thurmond, a wild ride on South Carolina mountain bike trails, or a quick camping trip. If you’re looking for quality, South Carolina mountain bike trails, the park is home to 10 miles of rolling, loop trails that take bikers through oak and pine woodlands.

Outside the stillness of the woods sits Lake Thurmond, a 71,100-acre lake that offers campers serene, lakeside camping sites, as well as easy lake access for boaters and fishers. A covered, 160-person capacity pavilion overlooks the lake and is perfect for group get-togethers and family reunions.

Hawe Creek Campgroound

This campground contains 34 sites, most of which are on the waterfront. 30 or 50-amp electrical hookups are provided at each site. Other amenities include flush and vault toilets, drinking water, showers, drinking water, a dump station, and boat ramp.

Hot, humid summers and mild, pleasant winters characterize this heavily wooded area on the shore of Thurmond Lake. A mixed pine and hardwood forest covers the site, providing summer shade and fall color.
Wildlife is abundant around the lake. Visitors regularly see southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, wild turkeys, and whitetail deer.

Thurmond Lake provides some of the best fishing, hunting, and water sports in the southeastern United States. Anglers fish for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish and striped bass. The large lake offers endless boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing and swimming opportunities.

Hester's Bottoms Family Campground

Located in Mt. Carmel, South Carolina, Hester’s Bottoms is a beautiful campground that sits on the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Lake (also known as Clarks Hill Lake). Under new management since March of 2021, the campground offers 39 waterfront RV sites and five waterfront primitive sites. All of the sites include WiFi and the RV sites offer 50-, 30-, and 20-amp services.

Guests are invited to use our private boat launch, boat dock, fish from the banks and enjoy the private beach and playground. We offer three bathhouses, each with private hot showers. Campground activities including fishing, swimming, walking, bike riding, kayaking, picnicking, or just hanging with friends and family and watching the sun set in the water.
